Ten years of Anime Messe! We are not celebrating that on the side, but with a day of its own: on Thursday 22.07.2027 we open the anniversary weekend with an exclusive birthday concert show in the festival hall. Up to eight artists from ten years of Anime Messe, a little journey through our history and, to close the evening, one more artist or band performing that night only.
Tickets for Thursday are strictly limited. The festival hall only holds a small number of people, so secure your tickets in good time in the Ticket Shop. You will find all prices and rules under Ticket Information.
It all started in 2016 at the beautiful Atze Musiktheater in Berlin. Even back then we wanted to bring you great entertainment with artists straight from Japan. So the very first edition already featured Haruka, known for the opening of Blue Dragon, the Japanese idol Chihiro Ishiguro, DoraNeko and AH-Soft with Yuzuki Yukari, who brought the very first Vocaloid concert in Germany to the stage.
Even back then, Anime Messe ran over three days: Friday was the concert day, Saturday and Sunday were the convention itself, still small but with a lot of heart. We love Japanese culture and have grown year after year. The small Anime Messe in a theatre has become a true Animeland at Filmpark Babelsberg. Here you can immerse yourself in Japanese culture for a whole weekend, not only on stage but also in the park between the Matsuri stalls and the booths of the Artists' Alley. And along the way, the film sets make for wonderful cosplay photos.
Not every year went to plan, and there is a reason we are only celebrating the tenth now. That makes us all the happier to finally celebrate this special number with you. Our volunteer team has been through highs and lows, and you were always there. Over ten years, all of you have grown into one big family. Thank you for that!
The birthday show is our thank-you to you and the festive opening of the anniversary. Up to eight artists from ten years of Anime Messe will perform in the show. Together we take a little journey through time, look back at the highlights of ten years of Anime Messe and chat about the moments that still stay with us today. From 21:15, one more artist or band takes the stage. We are not revealing who it will be yet, but one thing is certain: this performance is exclusive and can be seen on Thursday only.
And because a birthday without a present is no birthday at all: everyone with a Thursday ticket receives an exclusive birthday goodie for 10 years of Anime Messe on site as a keepsake of the evening.
Fun fact: The very first Anime Messe day in 2016 was also a concert day, back then with DoraNeko, the AH-Soft Vocaloids and Haruka. Ten years later we come full circle with a birthday concert evening.

Every person needs a regular ticket for Thursday. The festival hall only holds a strictly limited number of people. That is why our usual discounts, such as free tickets for children or accompanying persons, are unfortunately not available on Thursday.
