mpi is back in 2026! He’s the voice behind goosebump moments from Attack on Titan, The Seven Deadly Sins — and right now Solo Leveling Season 2. After Kassel, he’s now coming to Anime Messe Babelsberg. mpi — singer, lyricist, and long-time partner of Hiroyuki Sawano — brings his powerful songs to our stage. He delivered, and he’s earned the big crowd! On Saturday, we’ll blow the roof off together in the Volcano Arena in the outdoor area — right in the Filmpark atmosphere, with a backdrop no other anime event can offer you. On Sunday, you’ll get the second concert on our fancy indoor stage with a strong light show. So what are you waiting for? mpi is ready to rock out with you!
mpi is a multi-faceted artist: as a lyricist and singer, he shaped the sound of iconic anime titles for over a decade — often in close collaboration as a partner of the outstanding composer Hiroyuki Sawano, with whom he created numerous globally renowned tracks.
His path into the music industry was anything but conventional: after several years in New York, mpi initially worked as a translator in Japan, until his journey eventually led him to anime music. There, he collaborated with names such as Aimer, Cyua and Aimee Blackschleger. For them, he wrote lyrics for hits like “EGO” (Mobile Suit Gundam UC), “DOA” (Attack on Titan), as well as “Before My Body is Dry” (Kill la Kill). With the song “SHADOWBORN” for Solo Leveling Season 2, he’s currently proving once again that he belongs at the very top.
Finally on the really big stage in 2026
Anyone who has already experienced mpi at our Anime Festival Kassel knows: this man delivers. That’s why we’re now bringing him to where he belongs — to our main event! We want to give him the big audience he deserves and show that our anime community in Germany is huge! Anime Messe Babelsberg is the only event that combines convention feeling with the flair of a theme park. Only we have the gigantic Outdoor Volcano Arena. No other anime event offers a stage this wild — and that’s exactly where you’ll experience mpi on Saturday together with 2,500 fans! On Sunday, we’ll continue the spectacle on our fancy indoor stage with an extra-cool light show.
